This wire is necessary if the hideaway module needs to be farther away from the control module than usual. An example of this would be if your stereo currently involves a four-channel amplifier powering the speakers that is mounted far away from where the control module will be mounted. This extension wire allows you to place the control module near the driver’s seat, and still connect to the hideaway module at the amplifier in the trunk, cargo area, or under the back seat.
